Raccoons

[astra_breadcrumb]

Here in South Florida, we live close to the Everglades, and there is no denying that some creatures of this natural wonderland will come into contact with us sooner or later. One such creature included within these muggy lands may be a raccoon. Raccoons are known for their intelligence and clever nature. When it comes to getting rid of them though, oftentimes youโ€™ll never know if they carry any diseases until after an interaction with them.

Raccoons are usually nocturnal, but that doesnโ€™t mean you won’t see one in the daytime. Some raccoons have grown accustomed to human handouts which never does any good for either party involved; this leads them to wander around during prime tourist hours! While these cute creatures might seem docile at first glance – don’t let your guard down because their demeanor can change quickly without warning (especially if there’s food around). And just as we’ve learned from experience with other animals who may appear friendly at first such as dogs or cats, raccoons can be dangerous and we should always avoid them.

Can Raccoons Hurt Me?

Raccoons are common in neighborhoods across America, but they can be an intimidating species. These omnivores scavenge through garbage looking for food that has been thrown out or left on the ground near your home! If you keep their access limited by securing all covered garbage bins tightly each night, there should be no reason why these animals should ever get close enough.

โ€œI have raccoons in my atticโ€

Raccoons are often found in houses, attics, and on roofs. They make their way into the house by finding an entry point, usually at the eaves or rotted wood area of your roof.  They will use insulation as a toilet, which gets worse with time, because raccoons love the cold air just like us! You may notice if you pay the electricity bill regularly that your bill might be increasing.

The last thing you want to come face-to-face with is a momma raccoon protecting her babies! Getting rid of them in your attic should be priority number ONE. Raccoons have also been known to cause massive damage by chewing on wires causing electrical fires!
