I) Job Purpose

As a Trauma Therapist, you will be a member of the Tarrant County Family Treatment Court team and responsible for providing therapeutic services to enrolled families. You will bring your knowledge, training, and skills in the areas of EMDR, ACES, trauma, substance use disorder, and parent - child relationships. In this role, you will ensure that all families are served according to their plan of care timely, appropriately, and in keeping with procedural safeguards, rights, and needs. The services provided by the Therapist focus on recovery and reunification of children with parents and are provided to parents who have children ages pre-natal to 18 years of age. You will impact children, youth, and families by ensuring families are empowered to support their children and meet their needs, so they are reunified, and the community is strengthened.

II) Essential Functions

A) Provide trauma counseling services to parents enrolled in Family Treatment Court in a variety of environments such as natural environments, community, or office-based settings.

B) Provide an average of 16 sessions of EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) services to participants on their caseload weekly based on frequency and duration in the plan.

C) Utilize other therapy modalities as needed to support EMDR, such as motivational interviewing, TBRI, CBT, etc.

D) Support parents in the areas of attachment and parenting style to implement and support their parent child interaction.

E) Support families in addressing trauma, anxiety, and depression in the recovering parent as well as address parenting and neglect by expanding evidenced-based treatments that are individualized to families with children ages 0 to 18.

F) Measure, track, and report progress of children, youth, and families assigned in meeting therapy goals. Document services provided in myAvatar using appropriate templates and within established timelines.

G) Participate in regularly scheduled supervision and teaming meetings. Participate in court staffing meetings and collaborate with Family Treatment court members as requested.

III) Knowledge of Laws, Regulations, Policies/Procedures, Skills, and Abilities

A) Knowledge of typical, atypical, and disordered development, and medical diagnoses and conditions impacting children and youth prenatally through age 17.

B) Knowledge of CFS program' eligibility requirements and services provided.

C) MHMRTC Policies and Procedures

D) FERPA and HIPPA compliance

E) Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

F) Analytical and time-management skills or ability to be flexible and productive at a fast pace and produce quality work.

G) Knowledge of protective factors and family-strengthening strategies.

H) Ability to multitask, maintain focus, and complete assigned tasks within defined timelines.

I) Use of coaching and/or motivational interviewing and trauma-informed approaches while building capacity of children, youth, families, co-workers, and teams.

J) Knowledge of Texas laws regarding reporting adult and child abuse/neglect.

K) Working knowledge of community resources and case management principles

L) Ability to proficiently operate a computer, software, and systems utilized by CFS, such as: Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint; myAvatar; UKG/Kronos; Teams; VPN; Salesforce, AgencyFinder and FINDConnect

M) Knowledge of EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and other evidenced-based treatments that are individualized to families with children ages 0 to 18 who are involved in family court.

D) Discuss uncomfortable and potentially conflict-producing, stressful topics in a professional and effective manner with internal and external customers and maintain courteous interaction.

V) Travel

A) Adhere to MHMR Mileage and Travel reimbursement policy and any other aspect regarding travel.

B) This position requires daily travel including home, school, and community-based visits for families as assigned. Refer to addendum for specific travel requirements.

Minimum Requirements

VII) Minimum Qualifications

A) Minimum Education: Master's Degree

B) Defined Education: Health & Human Services related field

C) Preferences: Spanish speaking

D) Substitutions: None

E) Years' Experience: Two (2) years

F) Defined Experience: EMDR therapy counseling; counseling with adults/parents with substance use disorders and trauma histories

G) License/Certifications: Certified to provide EMDR; Current licensure in Texas as an LPC-A, LMSW, LMFT-A, LPC, LCSW, or LMFT

H) Special Courses: Trained in EMDR

I) Supervisory Experience: None

VIII) Agency Requirements

A) All staff are required to participate in agency Emergency Preparedness and Environmental Safety programs and may be assigned by their department as a key/essential staff level function during critical events or for the purpose of sustaining business continuity.

B) This position may require temporary or permanent re-assignment to any MHMR Tarrant facility as determined by program needs and/or the Division/Director.

C) Assigned work hours may change as the needs of the agency change.

D) The Functional Title of this position may change as the needs of the agency change.

E) All work will be completed within the scheduled work hours. All non-exempt (hourly) employees are expected to clock in and clock out for each work shift, no work should be done off the clock.

F) MHMR reserves the right to change, add to or eliminate positions as it deems appropriate.

G) Employment is at will, as well as agency needs may change.

H) Agency dress code is to be followed at all times.

I) Physical on-site presence, including regular attendance and punctuality, is an essential function of this position. Any changes or adjustments to your assigned work schedule or shift hours must be approved by your supervisor in advance.
