Job Description

The Public Affairs department focuses on maximizing Hudson Institute's presence in online, TV, and print media outlets by promoting Hudson experts and their work, putting on successful public events, and leveraging new media to amplify our impact in DC and across the globe.

Responsibilities:
  • Daily media monitoring;
  • Compiling, organizing, and distributing news clips;
  • Building and maintaining press lists;
  • Updating the public affairs team's editorial calendar;
  • Drafting statements, press releases, media advisories, and other communications materials;
  • Greeting reporters and manage press check-in at Hudson events;
  • Helping coordinate staff interviews;
  • Monitoring incoming media inquiries;
  • Assisting with public event operations;
  • Assisting with daily tasks of the Public Affairs team.

Requirements

The press intern should have:
  • strong interest in current events, foreign policy, and international relations;
  • a well-rounded and informed media diet;
  • excellent writing and editing skills;
  • a high level of attention to detail;
  • an ability to prioritize tasks;
  • an eagerness to learn;
  • working knowledge of politics and international relations.
**Preferred majors are political science, English, journalism/communications, philosophy, or a related field.**
