Stewart & Tate is a family owned and operated, full service construction firm that specializes in general building construction, site development, and specialized industrial construction. Summary The Pipe Layer is responsible for assembling, connecting, and constructing pipe systems for storm sanitation sewers, drains, and water mains and pipelines. Pipe Layers ensure the ground is prepped and trenches are dug out for pipes. Pipe Layers align pipes and seals joints together with cement, glue or plastic welding.

- Assess ground conditions.
- Install Trench safety equipment.
- Direct operators while trenching.
- Grade trenches.
- Assemble pipes and fittings.
- Measure and configure pipe routes.
- Gather material and installation tools.
- Hand digging around utilities.
- Remove old or broken pipe systems.
- Repair damaged pipe systems.
- Measure and cut pipe.
- Lay pipe into trenches.
- Check pipe alignment and seals.
- Install auxillary lines.
- Backfill trenches.

Work Environment - The work is regularly performed in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust, asphalt, fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration.
- Occasional exposure to a variety of extreme and loud conditions at construction job sites.

- Physical demands include but are not limited to lifting heavy objects, walking and standing for long periods of time and performing strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.
- Lifts, push, pull or carry objects; use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue; and effectively jump, sprint or throw objects.
- Excellent stamina, good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination required.
- Capable of frequently lifting or moving items up to 50 pounds and occasionally lifting or moving items up to 100 pounds.
