St. Dominic Villa , an Illuminus Community, is located among the rolling hills of the picturesque driftless region in southwest Wisconsin, just south of Platteville and a short 10-minute drive from Dubuque, Iowa. Open to all, St. Dominic Villa offers long-term skilled nursing care and short-term rehab to older adults and is a truly peaceful place to live and work.

We are seeking a Nurse Extern to join our team in a full or part-time capacity. In this role, you will carry out tasks commensurate with your nursing educational passed classes thus far, and for which you have demonstrated competence and delegation aptitude to the nursing supervisor.

• Hiring bonus available
• Shift Differential Available for PM and NOC shifts
• Full-time, part-time and casual openings available
• Schedules: AM, PM and NOC shifts available. All shifts require every other weekend and a holiday rotation.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Maintains and actively promotes effective communication with all individuals.
• Maintains a positive image of the entity in the community keeping in alignment with our mission, vision, and values.
• Responsible for on-call services, as assigned.
• Assist the mentor nurse in their nursing duties such as administering medications.
• Provide or assist with resident cares as directed by registered nurse or licensed practical nurse.
• Qualify and use licensed practical nursing skills such as immunizations, intravenous therapies, irrigation, catheters, and suture removal.
• Practice critical thinking skills.
• Performs other duties, as assigned.

Requirements:

• Must be a nursing student who is currently enrolled in a nursing program leading to registered nurse designation.
• Successfully completed pharmacology (must provide clinical skills check off from school).
• Completed at least one clinical rotation that included passing medications.
• Demonstration of competency in the required skills for the position. May perform only skills and procedures that have been competency checked by his/her nursing mentors. A signed list of competencies must be submitted for the personnel records.
• Certified Nurse Aide registry certification in good standing.
• Commitment to quality outcomes and services for all individuals.
• Ability to relate well to all individuals.
• Ability to maintain and protect the confidentiality of information.
• Ability to exercise independent judgment and make sound decisions.
• Ability to adapt to change.
