Job Description The Loan Officer will develop long-term relationships with clients and referral partners, creating an email friendly data base that will allow for continuous marketing 'touch points' over time. He/She will provide excellent mortgage planning and financial counsel and ensure that reports and client documentation are accurate and done in a timely manner. He/She will remain abreast of all regulatory, ethical, and employer requirements and abide by them in all aspects of the work performed.
Design, implement and maintain a personalized marketing program which results in the generation of an acceptable volume of mortgage lending and bank retail products as defined from time to time by the Bank.
Maintain, grow, and systematically utilize an ongoing electronic data base of clients, referral partners, and prospects for continuous efforts to "touch" clients and referral partners in order to generate mortgage sales.
Know and successfully apply the principles of: Mortgage lending product knowledge, Compliance Loan documentation, Fiscal literacy,Deal structuring for the customer's benefit, Computer technology.
Ensure that necessary documentation is completed and request additional data as needed. This may be accomplished by completing/obtaining the documents directly, or by utilizing our web site, or utilizing a loan officer assistant if authorized by the department manager.
Build purposeful relationships with referral partners by: Consistently attending networking groups, consistently attending open houses and similar events, consistently visiting referral partners,Becoming a community resource.
Utilize an effective personal time management system.
Maintain a Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) unique identifier with the National Mortgage Lending System
Cross sell other Bank retail and lending products.
Ensure thorough knowledge and understanding of compliance and regulatory issues relating to loan policy and procedures (i.e. CRA, Fair Lending, etc.) evidenced by appropriate application of these regulations in day-to-day operations.
Complete all necessary compliance training to include but not limited to BSA.
Attend meetings and Bank events as required and perform other duties as may be specified from time to time.
Proven track record of generating applications for residential mortgage loans.
Requirements Ability to analyze financial statements and loan risk
2-3 Years of Mortgage experience preferred
Valid driver's license with a clean driving background
Excellent knowledge of conventional and government mortgage underwriting requirements, real estate settlement practices, and of the residential lending business in general
Good command of the mathematics and reasoning skills involved in residential lending
High level communication skills, both oral and written
Excellent interpersonal skills, a committed listener, shows empathy, and deals well with individuals of all personality types
Builds rapport and confidence quickly
Computer skills; intermediate MS Word, intermediate MS Excel, intermediate MS Outlook, intermediate knowledge of Internet and data base or CRM software
Ability to work under pressure of multiple projects and deadlines; ability to effectively prioritize workload and manage changes in direction
Able to operate with minimal supervision, high achiever, and strong work ethic
Ability to work in a team environment
Ability to meet and maintain MLO status in good standing under the SAFE Act requirements
Will use his or her industry knowledge and marketing and sales strengths to find prospects, generate leads, and convert application opportunities to closed loans
Much of the incumbent's work will be self-directed with the majority of the sales calls and other activity taking place outside the employer's offices
