We are currently seeking a full-time Mentor Program Manager for the Teen Center located in Dorchester.

The Teen Center Mentoring Program provides high quality mentoring to adolescents living in Dorchester and surrounding communities located within the city of Boston. The Mentor Program Manager will work to expand a program which serves as a one-to-one, community-based mentoring program that matches youth (ages 9-17) with caring adult mentors that hail from all over the Greater Boston Area. The primary responsibilities of the Mentor Program Manager will be in the areas of program development, mentor training, recruitment, and match support.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain professional boundaries.
  • Improve program systems to provide increased services and match support to at risk Boston youth and their respective mentors.
  • Research, develop, and implement a yearlong leadership development curriculum to engage matches to achieve desired program outcomes.
  • Create a resource manual for Teen Center’s Mentoring program outlining best practices and policies and procedures.
  • Provide ongoing training to mentors, to effectively address needs of program matches.
  • Expand program recruitment plan, particularly to include partnerships with community leaders in minority owned businesses.
  • Monthly reporting to CCUSA.
  • Must be able to work collaboratively and within groups to complete group projects to benefit the field of mentoring.
  • Must be able to effectively manage time and meet competing demands.
  • Complete all professional development requirements as part of CCUSA mentoring program.
  • Uphold the mission, vision, professionalism, and philosophy of Catholic Charities.
  • Work is performed in an office environment and busy teen center program. Regular use of computers and other office equipment. Engagement with staff, teen program participants and mentors.
  • Attendance at internal and external meetings.
  • Local travel as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BA/BS strongly preferred in Human Service, Education, or related field.
  • Experience with and/or commitment to youth development.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, Team, Zoom and other technology.
  • Interest in nonprofit organizations and their development.
  • Excellent organization and communication skills.
  • Proven leadership and project management abilities.
  • A passion for national and community service.
  • The desire to work with diverse people, organizations, and communities.
  • Flexibility and a good sense of humor.
  • Bi-lingual language capacity in Cape Verde Creole conversational ability preferred, but not required.
  • Experience with Cape Verdean population preferred but not required.
  • Reliable transportation, ownership of/access to a car preferred, but not required.
