POSITION SUMMARY: To provide a safe and secure environment to all Hotel patrons, guests, visitors, owners and employees while enforcing all hotel rules and regulations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Know your work schedule and follow it with a high degree of reliability. 2. Interact with berth holders, patrons, clients, vendors, and co-workers in a professional and customer service oriented manner. 3. Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming. 4. Maintain a clean, neat and orderly work area. 5. Perform your job according to standard operating procedures. 6. Read, understand and follow all policies, procedures and practices as stated in the Employee Handbook. 7. Implement hotel safety and emergency policies and procedures (i.e. evacuation, first aid, etc.) to include removing all safety hazards, following OSHA Hazcom program and safe lifting techniques. 8. Utilize protective equipment, when applicable. 9. Promptly report accidents, injuries, property damage or loss to supervisor. 10. Promptly report substandard (unsafe) conditions to supervisor. 11. Keep accurate communication flowing freely among all hotel departments. 12. Inform management promptly of any work-related problems or guest complaints. 13. Maintain professional, amicable relationships with all resort/marina departments, managers, and staff, as well as vendors, and community and professional contacts. 14. Promote excellent guest service throughout the resort/marina by demonstrating friendly, courteous and helpful attitudes toward all guests. 15. Attend all scheduled training classes and meetings. 16. Train and supervise other employees as directed by management. 17. Continue to learn and grow in your position. 18. Perform any reasonable request as assigned or directed by management. 19. Provide for a safe work environment by following all safety and security procedures and rules. 20. Arrange for reasonable accommodations for person(s) with disabilities. 21. Assist person(s) with a disability. 22. Comply with all applicable federal, state, local laws and ordinances as they apply to the resort/marina, guests and employees.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Patrol assigned areas on foot or in a vehicle, providing assistance and direction to visitors, berth holders, condo owners and employees. Confront and question all suspiciously acting persons present on property. Follow all proper instructions of the operating equipment used ensuring it is cleaned and properly stored after use. Apply crime risk and safety hazard prevention techniques, methods, practices and enforce marina rules and regulations. Inspect all operating equipment and report any problems to the maintenance department. Investigate and submit reports concerning criminal offences committed against hotel property, visitors, owners and employees. Investigate all disturbances, accidents, and guest and employee injuries. Comply with the hotel regulations regarding dress and expected behavior, reflecting consistently Key West Marriott Beachside Hotel Brand Standards whilst offering a personalized service to all internal and external customers. Administer first aid and CPR to guests and employees when appropriate according to OSHA laws and regulations. Accurately compile all appropriate security reports in accordance with resort/marina policies and procedures. Monitor and report all conditions which may create security or safety hazards on the property, making recommendations to improve prevention techniques, devices and equipment that would correct the hazards. Respond to fire and security alarms on the resort/marina property. Read daily all memos, schedules, events, SOPs or any other posted information to ensure that there is an up to date foundation of information for the day. Have a working knowledge of the Alarm Systems and Watchman Systems. Have a working knowledge of the computer programs used. Have a working knowledge of the ADA equipment available and how to set up that equipment.

EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

EXPERIENCE: Minimum of one year previous security experience in a hotel or related facility required.

JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to read and write as well as follow written and verbal English communication. Must develop English communication skills to the level required to communicate orally with other employees, resort guests, patrons and visitors. Must be able to run up and down stairs in emergency situations. Must be able to endure long periods of standing and walking throughout a 12-hour shift. Must be able to stoop, bend, twist, reach and lift an average of 50 pounds with or without an accommodation Must be First Aid and CPR certified. Must have appropriate valid security licenses where applicable. Ability to demonstrate physical and psychological fitness. Ability to respond to an emergency call-in situation. Proven skills in VHF communication, basic first-aid and fire-fighting procedures.
