We are in search of a dynamic and versatile Fundraising Support and Event Planning Specialist who has a blend of interpersonal skills, organizational abilities, and tech-savviness. Company Overview

Founded in 2002, Storybook Farm is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization whose mission is to help children have exceptional childhoods so they can have bright futures and exceptional adulthoods. We provide children from broken or abusive homes, or those who have suffered some type of adversity or trauma, emotional, behavioral, or developmental challenges resources for learning and emotional growth that many of us take for granted - but can change a child's life forever.

We're the only organization in a 500-mile region providing this type of high-impact, animal, and nature-based learning. We operate year-round hosting six programs, serving more than 3,250 children and their families from eight neighboring counties in Alabama and Georgia. We currently have four full-time staff, four part-time staff, 12 board members, 250 weekly volunteers, over 1,500 donors, thousands of volunteer alumni, and operate with a $975,000 budget. And yes, we're growing!

Job Summary

The ideal candidate should know the basics of nonprofit fundraising and/or event planning, and have worked in a fundraising or event planning department for one or more jobs. This position is good fit for a natural organizer and conversationalist who is at ease with people and can turn a simple call into a meaningful engagement. Along with interpersonal skills and technical acumen, this role requires passion to learn and help build a best-in-class fundraising program alongside the executive director.

This candidate should also have a heart for children and be willing to wear multiple hats. The job includes helping support fundraising strategies, developing donor relationships, raising public awareness, planning fundraising events, creating development analysis reports, as well as other common fundraising and event planning responsibilities.

Responsibilities

Fundraising

  • Help implement strategies for a variety of funding channels to raise money from individuals, corporations, and foundations.
  • Manage various stages of the donor lifecycle with a focus on stewardship and documentation.
  • Help manage fundraising campaigns including individual donors, corporate gifts, and special events.

Marketing/Communications

  • Act as spokesperson through site tours, media promotion, public speaking, and event appearances.
  • Assist with the creation, strategy, and execution of marketing collateral.

Administration

  • In a timely manner, use CRM software to create and manage donor profiles, track, and record gifts, maintain data, and coordinate donor-based research activities.

Key Interfaces

  • Board of directors, current and prospective donors, and key partnerships.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Basic knowledge and experience working in fundraising and/or event planning capacity in one or more jobs.
  • Confident and comfortable engaging with people you don't know and nurturing these relationships - in person, on the phone, and through correspondence.
  • Working in an organization where systems and responsibilities constantly evolve.
  • Proven ability to work well under pressure, meet deadlines to achieve goals, and maintain a detail-oriented approach to work.
  • Computer skills: Exceptional skills with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint (or equivalent).
  • Experience with some type of donor management software or CRM software (desirable, but not required).
  • Experience with Adobe Suite and WIX (desirable, but not required).

Additional Requirements and Qualifications

  • Writing skills: It's important the candidate possess exceptional writing abilities, capable of crafting engaging and heartfelt thank you notes to donors.
  • Interpersonal skills: The candidate must demonstrate robust interpersonal skills, embrace various personalities, and sustain relationships with a diverse array of individuals.
  • Self-Management & Initiative: It's important the candidate can plan, prioritize, coordinate, and manage own work; ability to work unsupervised and problem solve effectively and creatively.
  • Drive & Persuasion: The candidate should be goal-driven, tenaciously approach objectives, and motivate others.

Physical Requirements

  • Sitting at a computer.
  • Travel by car (employee's vehicle) to meet with donors.

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree (Preferred, but not required).
  • Two or more years of experience in the field of fundraising and/or event planning.

Hours: Full-time, year-round. Occasional evening and weekend work.

Title: Fundraising Support and Event Planning.

Reports to: Executive Director.

Supervises: No one.

Reviews: Performance reviews at 30 and 90 days, and every six months thereafter.

Salary: Base pay: $40,000 - $50,000. Salary review: Yearly.
